Jin Xing, founder, artistic director, and choreographer of Jin Xing Dance Theatre Shanghai, has an amazing history that accents her journey through the dance world. Not only is Jin Xing a world-class dancer, she's an eloquent speaker as well. Jin Xing will be here in Minneapolis for a public interview on Thu, Feb 16, as part of the Institute for Advanced Study's Thursdays at Four series. Mark your calendars! And for your preparation, here is an insightful look at her phenomenal story from an interview with the artist in the Wall Street Journal

Additional Background:

Jin Xing found an outlet for self-expression and an escape in dance.  Wanting to climb to the top of China's dance world, she became incredibly focused on her dancing at an early age. In 1987, she moved to New York City, where she danced for four years with the modern dance icons including Martha Graham. She then traveled around Europe, including a two-year dance teaching stint in Rome. Today, she lives with her three adopted children and her German husband in her home country.
