The Flavor of Hip-Hop

July 14, 2011

*This show has been rescheduled, due to weather, for Fri, July 22, 7 pm.

This is THE Summer Music Festival at Northrop show to be at.
Both groups are strong enough to carry their own show, but will go well
together with their different flavors of hip-hop and rap.

Outkast-inspired beats from the groovy Bight Club will get
the crowd loose and ready to go. Tony Rabiola and Jeremy "Nutz" Nutzman are
nothing but themselves. They blow the constraints of the labels up with their
genre-crossing music.  And they are
known to bring it on stage. This is not a show that you want to skip the
opener. Their debut LP will be released on July 24, called Dreamworld Vs. Minneapolis. The album is, as their Myspace says, "a
swaying landscape of dance tracks, head-bangers and baby-making music."

Sims and Doomtree pal Lazerbeak headline Friday Night Live
with Sims' irresistible verses and Lazerbeak's solid production. Any
self-respecting Twin Citiean has heard of the powerhouse hip-hop collective
Doomtree that Sims and Lazerbeak belong to, along with Dessa, P.O.S., among
others. Sims just released a new album, Bad
Time Zoo
. Check out this
super-creepy video
of "Burn It Up" from the album. You'll never look at
rabbits the same again. As for his style, his bio says it best: "Over the pulse
and sway of Lazerbeak's urgent, expansive production, Sims raises 50-story
verses and swings wrecking-ball choruses."

Plus, as always, the show is full of free shebang. The show
is free, there will be free Jimmy John's while supplies last, and there will be
raffles for a $20 Kafe 421 gift certificate. Plus, if you fill out one of our
surveys, you can get a half-off Punch Pizza coupon.

We'll see you there for the best free Friday night show of
the summer!
