Torrent with U of M students

Called “the ‘it’ boy of contemporary American dance” (Dallas Morning News), choreographer Brian Brooks has carved his niche with a unique and minimalist style—a style characterized as an electrified “exploration of human limits” by Dance Magazine. His company is known for shattering conventional notions of human strength and endurance, and they make their Northrop debut with a compelling and fast-paced repertory program. Our own U of M student dancers will join the company in the free-spirited Torrent, a work that oscillates joyously between orderly patterns and unrestrained turbulence, while soaring to a remix of Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

As a special treat, Wendy Whelan will be joining the company, performing in First Fall.

“The coiling fullness of Mr. Brooks’ choreography, brimming with detail, frequently mesmerizes; you wonder how the dancers keep up.” -The New York Times

U of M student, Alice Fredrickson coordinated/reconstructed the costumes for Torrent.
