Today’s Dessa show is CANCELLED

Due to the severe rain forecast, today’s Music on the Plaza concert featuring Dessa and Taj Raj is cancelled. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding!

We hope you will join us for future events, including the Grand Reopening season starting in April 2014!

One of hip-hop's most diverse and talented artists, Dessa is known to a national audience as a rapper, a singer, and a potent, imaginative lyricist. This Doomtree veteran combines wit, tenderness, and poetic sensibility to rare effect. Dessa spins delicate and charged stories and animates them with her expressive alto voice, arresting with its honest, clear simplicity. Dessa transcends the restrictions of genre to reveal an astonishing multi-platform voice.

Taj Raj

Taj Raj loosely binds a collection of late 70’s roots-pop, tear in my beer country, and new folk rock to create a sound that is strangely familiar yet entirely their own.  The six tracks on their new EP Fine Hearts Alive are thoroughly inspired by the Midwest. Both lyric and instrumental timbre draw from the more bucolic scenery in which Fine Hearts Alive was written and recorded, just outside of Hudson, Wisconsin.

*This is a student-only concert
