Work in Progress Showing: Situations

Montreal choreographer George Stamos is the 2013 McKnight International Artist, a program coordinated by Northrop at the University of minnesota. Stamos will be in residence in Minneapolis June 10 - 22 to develop a new work titled Situations, working with selected local dancers at the JSB TEK BOX in Minneapolis.

"How can a choreography exist as a somatic blueprint for movement architecture and be rebuilt spontaneously by groups of men from one showing to the next through tasks, choice, and gesture? What aspects of maleness contribute to a collective process spread out through various cites at various times? An international extended “family” of male dancers (9 in Montreal and 6 in Minneapolis thus far) will collaborate in the creation of this project in 2013 / 2014. Various combinations of these men will perform in the finished work and the piece will exist in trio, quartet, quintet, and larger group formats."
