Celebration & Renewal The 2014-15 Northrop Season

Tonight, our Director Christine Tschida revealed the 2014//15 Northrop Season artists who will perform in our newly renovated home on the Carlson Family Stage. We are so excited about this season which includes two leaders in modern dance, five world-class ballet troupes, four evening length works, four international companies, and one music performance. Opening the season will be Paul Taylor Dance Company performing on Saturday, September 27th with two iconic pieces: Beloved Renegade and Pizzola Caldera.

Next, on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th, we’ll see six world premieres presented by 2012 and 2013 McKnight Dancer Fellowship recipients as part of the McKnight SOLO show.

Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker/Rosas will return to Minneapolis with Rosas Danst Rosas, never before seen in the Midwest, Wednesday – Friday, October 15-17, co-presented by the Walker Art Center.

Showcasing their physicality and theatricality, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal will present three works including Closer, Night Box, and Harry on Friday, October 24th.

In November, The Hong Kong Ballet will exquisitely perform Turandot, a dramatic re-staging of the opera.

Staging a sparkling sampling of Balanchine on Thursday, December 4th, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet will perform Swan Lake, Allegro Brilliante, and The Concert.

Internationally acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem will perform an eclectic program of ballet on Tuesday, February 17th.

On Tuesday, March 10th, Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne / Compagnie Käfig will energetically combine hip-hop, capoeira, samba, acrobatics, and bossa nova.

Martha Graham Dance Company will present two differing programs on Friday, April 10th and Saturday, April 11th and will include a presentation of Panorama, featuring 24 University of Minnesota dance students as part of the extended company.

The Eifman Ballet will present Rodin, a theatrical ballet dedicated to the great sculptor Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel on Tuesday, April 28th and Wednesday, April 29th.

The music event of the season features The Nile Project’s Aswan with music of the plucked harp and spiked fiddle.
