Welcome to this week’s Northrop MOVES Online. It has been seven weeks since we last greeted audiences in our lobbies and welcomed artists to our stage. We miss seeing you and hope this post finds you well. We know this is just a season and that this too shall pass. Here at Northrop, we have been looking to the future and planning for the day when we can welcome you back, knowing that day will come and that it may look different than it has in the past. I want to share with you a few of the priorities that our teams are focusing on, with you in mind.

Northrop’s programming team has been working closely with our dance and music artists to support them through this challenging time and finalize the schedule for next season. We can’t wait to share the details with you soon. Our production team is exploring new ways for audiences to access our many programs, including performances and performance previews, K-12 matinees, master classes, and more—whether we can come together in the theater or need to stay apart. You have seen the marketing team hard at work keeping you connected to everything happening at Northrop and to all of the digital work being shared by Northrop artists. They are redesigning our website to serve you better when it launches in November. Ticketing has helped many of you take care of your past ticket purchases and now they are preparing to upgrade the AudienceView ticketing system and build our many upcoming shows. Our front of house team has been working to ensure that appropriate cleaning and safety measures are implemented throughout our public spaces, and the development team has been working closely with our donors, grantors, and sponsors, to whom we are so grateful for your generosity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and vision. We each continue to coordinate with University administration, government and health officials, and colleagues locally and nationally to identify and share best practices so that we can welcome you back as soon as it is safe to do so. While we continue to manage day-to-day uncertainties, we are working together toward a brighter future for us all.

I have been continuously amazed by the innovative, creative ways that artists are sharing their work digitally during this unusual time. I hope you are following Northrop’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social media channels for Daily Inspiration posts to keep you inspired and connected!

I look forward with great anticipation to the day when we can throw open our doors and welcome you back in person. In the meantime, please stay safe, healthy, connected, and inspired. Gratefully,

Kari Schloner Director of Northrop
