Decadence. Freedom. Love. Beauty. Truth. Passion. The Can-Can. These themes will intersect, collide, and ignite in rainbows of colorful skirts, bloomers, and top hats as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet debuts the World Premiere of Jorden Morris' full-length production Moulin Rouge- The Ballet. Journey into the cinematic realm of Matthew and Nathalie as they navigate life and love amidst the backdrop of Paris' most celebrated cabaret. Tara Birtwhistle and Gael Lambiotte return as principals along with a stellar ensemble following their striking performances in Mauricio Wainrot's Carmina Burana last season. With 31 different music pieces by composers of the Moulin Rouge era, including Ravel, the production promises to engage music and dance lover alike.

As the longest continuously operating ballet in North America, RWB has firmly established itself as Canada's premier ballet company--due in large part to the mainstream appeal of new productions like Dracula and most recently Peter Pan in which former RWB Principal and Choregrapher Jorden Morris generated a box office smash.

The Moulin Rouge routinely saved a seat for the famous artist, Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, who immortalized the venue through his paintings and lithographs. We'll try to do the same for you!
