Isn't it Romantica?

Nope, that's not a typo. That's the name of my new heartthrob,
the local Irish folk-Americana band. And lucky for you, they're coming to
Northrop this summer, as part of the Summer at Northrop free concert series, on
June 14, noon-1. Yep, that's right, FREE. I know how much we college students
love us some free-ness, so please take advantage of this!!!!

Also: just know that there will be MORE free stuff than just
the band. Not that we need any more of a reason to come, but...since June 14, the
day these fellas are coming to the Northrop Plaza, is also our kick-off party
for Summer at Northrop 2010. For those of you Summer at Northrop newbies, that
means FREE Jimmy Johns, FREE UDS ice cream desserts, and FREE prizes.

Bandleader Ben Kyle was born in Belfast, Ireland and
immigrated here with his parents and six siblings when he was 13, only to
redefine and re-energize American music with his twangy tunes.  Growing up, his father played a lot of
guitar and wrote music for local church events, which encouraged Kyle to pick
up the instrument himself.

Plus, they're a bit sassy: according to a City Pages article
on them, they fired their last bassist for coming to band practice donning a pukka
shell necklace and Teva sandals.  Who
doesn't love ethics like that?

Be sure to meander over to their Myspace page. I look forward to seeing all my fellow
hipsters and country-lovers alike at the show!
