Hofesh Shechter Company Performance Preview

NORTHROP DANCE FREE PERFORMANCE PREVIEWS

Tue, Nov 13, 6:15 – 7:00 pm, Solera Restaurant

At the forefront of the European dance scene, Hofesh Shechter has emerged as one of the major choreographic voices in world. This panel discussion will look at his evolution as dancer in Israel, his time spent with the Batsheva Dance Company, and now with his own company.

Choreographer, dancer, and dance scholar Judith Brin Ingber will provide background and context for his work based on her most recent work, Seeing Israeli and Jewish Dance (Wayne State University Press). Ingber and other eminent scholars consider dancers individually and in community, defining Jewish dance broadly to encompass religious ritual, community folk dance, and choreographed performance.

This performance preview is hosted by co-artistic directors of Twin Cities-based Black Label Movement (BLM), Carl Flink and Emilie Plauché Flink.
