Hubbard Street Dance Chicago captivated audiences when they first appeared here two years ago. Now, these 18 gorgeous dancers–artists of unparalleled talent and versatility will fill the Northrop stage with a stunning contemporary repertory program. Opening the show is choreographer Crystal Pite’s Solo Echo, followed by Alejandro Cerrudo's Second to Last and William Forsythe’s all-male N.N.N.N. while Nacho Duato’s haunting Gnawa rounds out the evening. Created expressly for the Hubbard Street dancers, Gnawa is a vision of mysterious beauty and sensual elegance that transports us to the Mediterranean with Sufi-influenced Moroccan songs, Spanish guitar, and North African drumming.

“Hubbard Street Dance Chicago ought to bottle itself as a cure for the ills of the era.”
