In Africa, Siama Matuzungidi recorded hundreds of songs and toured the world with popular Soukous artists (a genre known as "the sound of happiness"). Now based in Minneapolis, Siama is known for intricate guitar picking, spirited vocals and catchy songs. His acoustic format—brimming with vocal harmonies and infectious rhythms—is inspired by traditional music from his home in rural Congo. Whether performing or hosting educational programs Siama invites everyone to participate. His new kids' album, The Land of Yangalele is enjoying national airplay and recently received a Parents' Choice Award.
In the case of inclement weather, performances may move to Northrop's Best Buy Theater.
