The World According to the Bank: an Analysis of World Bank Reports, 1946-2010

Join Stanford University English professor and founder of the Center for the Study of the Novel and the Literary Lab https://english.stanford.edu/people/franco-moretti as he takes a semantic look at the World Bank, the massive economic engine that has dominated much of the world’s financial direction since the end of WWII. Professor Moretti examines the impact of the Bank’s use of language, as opposed to a quantitative analysis of its complex economic policies, to determine and deconstruct the organization’s positions and global influence. It’s a fascinating look at a side of banking rarely considered—a literary perspective on an economic powerhouse.
