Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado premieres Coming Home, his first dance piece created for a U.S. company. Delgado is this year’s Northrop McKnight International Artist and began creating his work for Zenon Dance Company at the beginning of his residency in August.

Delgado describes Coming Home as “a piece about a journey” in which the sport of baseball (beloved by Cubans and Americans) became common ground between the choreographer and the dancers. He goes on to describe it as “a metaphor for life, confrontation, and people coming together for a common goal.” Fleeting gestures and abstracted movements from baseball are embedded in the dynamic and contemporary dance work. Also on the program is the world premiere of a new work for Zenon by Brooklyn-based choreographer Vanessa Anspaugh. Reprises include Stefanie Batten Bland's Caught, and the duet My Very Empty Mouth by Wynne Fricke (2014 McKnight Artist Fellow for Choreography).
