Northrop's Music on the Plaza 2019 concert series continues this week with Innocent. The band has played Northrop concerts for many years, as you'll read in the blog post below. Don’t miss this free concert starting at noon on Wed, Jul 3 on Northrop’s Plaza. It’s one of the many interesting #GopherSummer events on campus this summer.

Innocent Galinoma arrived in Minnesota in the late 1980s and has spent the following years using music to bridge his home culture of Tanzania with his adopted home of Minnesota. Since his return from an extended stay in Africa in 2012, Innocent has been sharing his music with the summer series at Northrop every other year. The summer is filled with local appearances throughout the metro area, but Northrop is always a special performance. The daytime series always brings out a variety of people, many of whom have never seen Innocent's unique form of African-flavored reggae.

This past year included the release of a recording called "Everyone in One" resulting in two songs charting in the top 10 songs in Tanzania. Sung in both English and Swahili, Innocent is looking forward to sharing his brand of Afro-reggae with Northrop audiences on Wednesday.
