Light Plays

Light Plays is an experiential light projection and movement event on Northrop’s facade created by collaborators artist/designer Emily Stover and dancer/choreographer Chris Schlichting, presented by Northrop, College of Design, Institute for Advanced Study, and University Honors Program.

Stover, a recent University of Minnesota College of Design grad and current adjunct faculty member, is using a new software program called Glowdoodle (developed at MIT) that uses light to draw in real time, on a scale never used before.

This event is part of Pop-Up Northrop: Igniting Big Ideas, a series of spontaneous pop-up events, building transformations, social objects, and an interactive online hub that together will launch Northrop’s innovative multidisciplinary programming in its revitalized facility. Pop-Up Northrop: Igniting Big Ideas starts now and continues until Northrop’s Grand Reopening on April 4, 2014.
