Communications Intern

The Communications Intern works within the Business Development & Customer Service department of Northrop (marketing, communications and ticketing) to assist and lead a variety of projects to support the mission, vision and values of Northrop while participating in opportunities to learn and explore new skills. Job duties include supporting Northrop’s programming of dance, music, film, comedy, lectures, academic and engagement activities, as well as rental of the Northrop building and events hosted by Northrop’s resident departments or outside promoters/renters. 

Other duties include creating and proofing copy for various materials (such as blogs, emails and brochures), organizing internal documentation, managing the official Northrop email presence and assisting with online marketing. The Communications Intern follows the UMN brand and style guide. Working collaboratively with the marketing, communications and design teams, the intern supports the goal of increasing visibility, deepening engagement, selling tickets, driving attendance and maintaining Northrop’s professional image. 

This is a part-time UMN student position, appointed for approximately 10-15 hours per week. Pay is $15.25/hour. This position requires a currently enrolled UMN student with at least two semesters completed as a full-time student and availability to work occasional evening and weekend events. The preferred start date is mid-September 2026. Marketing Intern

The Business Development and Support team at Northrop is seeking a creative Marketing Intern to assist with a variety of projects that support Northrop’s performing arts and event programming. Duties include executing brand-consistent marketing and communications strategies via social media and other outlets to meet engagement goals, while upholding the values and mission of Northrop and the University of Minnesota. This is a flexible part-time position of 10-15 hours per week, arranged between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend shifts based on event needs. The pay is $15.25 per hour. Applicants must be currently enrolled at the UMN and majoring in marketing, sales, communications, performing arts or a related field.

Artistic Programs Intern

The Northrop Artistic Programs Intern will assist the Artist Services Manager, Education Programs Managerand the Artistic & Community Programs department with Northrop Presents event administration, planning and execution. Job duties include: working Northrop Presents events and Student Matinees; assisting with K-12 programs and administrative tasks as assigned; creating and updating overview spreadsheets and artist itineraries for Northrop Presents events; entering events into Northrop's archival database; assisting with artist hospitality and transportation; participating in departmental research and evaluation work; and other duties as assigned and deemed necessary in contributing to the mission of Northrop and activities of the department.

This is a temporary, part-time UMN student position, appointed for approximately 10 hours per week, with up to 15 hours as needed for occasional event weeks. Pay is $15.25/hour. This position requires a currently enrolled UMN student with at least 2 semesters completed as a full-time student and availability to work occasional evening and weekend events. Must have a valid driver's license. The preferred start date is Sept. 14, 2026.
