Communications Manager

Northrop seeks a Communications Manager to lead writing, editing, and content management focusing on sales, fundraising, campus and community engagement, and K-12 arts education for Northrop programming, Northrop space rentals, and U of M Tickets and Events. With a strong initiative to discover, create, and share content, this person is an excellent storyteller and champion for Northrop, U of M Tickets and Events, and the University of Minnesota—they will strategically develop and match content with appropriate channels and audiences, ensuring messaging aligns with Northrop’s brand and strategic plan. In partnership with and under the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, the Communications Manager is Northrop’s primary media liaison and is responsible for spearheading all earned public relations strategies. This position supports Northrop’s vision as a vital multi-purpose center of academic distinction and a preeminent cultural and performing arts center, which establishes Northrop as a bustling, dynamic destination for collaboration and study, entertainment, exploration, and intellectual experiences. Box Office Manager

Northrop is looking for a Box Office Manager to oversee box office operations and provide exceptional customer service to all patrons. In collaboration with marketing, group sales, and developmental Northrop employees, this position helps execute revenue-generating initiatives. The Box Office Manager is responsible for ticket scaling, sales, orders, and subscriptions and maintains financial records and reports. Two full-time Ticket Service Managers will report directly to them, and they report to the University of Minnesota Tickets and Events Director of Ticketing. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and requires a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Salary: $55,000–$62,000 per year, based on qualifications. Lighting Supervisor (Stage Manager)

This position serves on the stage/technical team for Northrop, reporting to the Technical Director and working with visiting artists and auditorium users on production needs ensuring successful events. While this person serves as the lighting expert on the team, they will also be expected to perform all backstage duties, demonstrate strong lighting knowledge, and be proficient in operating and programming lighting equipment, including the ETC-EOSTI light board. Candidates should have good people skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and have the ability to coordinate logistics surrounding multiple productions, performances, and events per year. Good verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with computer applications are essential. Student Backstage Tech Support

Northrop is looking for Student Backstage Tech Support to be involved in set up/tear down events on our stages with our full-time backstage staff and other backstage student workers. You will also help set up events throughout Northrop in a convention services manner, perform some light custodial duties, and other duties as assigned by stage managers and front of house staff. Your hours will be a mix of regular slots every week and additional shifts for events. Required qualifications include: must be a current U of M undergraduate student registered for the required number of credits, excellent oral communication skills, able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, and must be able to work well with others as part of a team. Campus and Community Engagement Intern

Northrop is looking for a Campus and Community Engagement Intern to assist with the research, creation, and implementation of engagement opportunities that enhance the experience at Northrop by establishing and maintaining meaningful connections between community groups and programming at Northrop. Campus and Community Engagement Interns will help facilitate regularly scheduled events; research, and help develop and implement creative ideas for engagement; assist with surveys, focus groups, and other research; assist with administrative and general office duties, and more. Applicants must be a currently enrolled U of M student registered for the required number of credits, have an interest (preferably a passion) for and experience with the performing arts, entertainment, academics, engagement activities, and the intersection of all of these. Communications Intern 

Northrop seeks a Communications Intern to assist with and lead communications projects that support Northrop programming to increase visibility, deepen engagement, sell tickets, drive attendance, fundraising, and contribute to arts education. The Communications Intern will help write, edit, and proofread different types of media; generate creative written content; maintain the editorial calendar; monitor customer service inquiries across various platforms; conduct research around Northrop events; and assist with administrative and additional duties as needed. Applicants must be currently enrolled U of M students majoring in communications, English, journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, performing arts, or a related field and have an interest/knowledge in the performing arts.
