Looking up at the columns of Northrop

Service dogs are allowed anywhere in the building. For other service animals, please check with the Box Office in advance regarding specific needs. Contact the Box Office at 612-624-2345 or umntix@umn.edu. Non-service animals are not allowed in the building. Please refer to Northrop’s complete list of accessibility services and amenities.

Digital Tickets-Only: All performance and parking tickets are now delivered electronically—printed tickets are no longer available. Tickets will be sent from umntix@umn.edu to the email address you provide when you place your order. The new system will streamline the ticketing process before and at events, providing immediate ticket delivery (unless otherwise noted), shorter wait times and congestion in the building, and improved onsite accessibility for patrons.

Ticketing procedures vary by event and promoter/presenter, and are subject to change. Email umntix@umn.edu or call 612-624-2345 for additional help.

Refunds/Exchanges

  • Refund and exchange policies vary by event and promoter and are subject to change. All events in the 2023-24 Northrop Season are fully exchangeable for subscribers only. Please contact the Box Office at umntix@umn.edu or 612-624-2345 for assistance.

Tickets for Children

  • Every child, regardless of age, must have a ticket. We appreciate your discretion when choosing events appropriate for your child’s age.

  • Booster seats are available in two different sizes; inquire with an usher for assistance.

Third Party Ticketing

  • Northrop’s Box Office (U of M Tickets and Events) is the only authorized ticket sales agent for events at Northrop. Buying tickets through Northrop ensures the best prices and the validity of the tickets. Northrop is not able to honor, replace, or refund invalid tickets. If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized agent in the secondary market, you risk purchasing counterfeit or invalid tickets and may be denied access to the event.

Please avoid bringing backpacks or large bags to events at Northrop. Bags are subject to search, in addition to other security measures which vary by performance.

Beverages with a lid purchased from The Bistro or concessions at Northrop and clear reusable water bottles with lids or a closure of some kind are allowed in Northrop’s Carlson Family Stage and Best Buy Theaters. Food is prohibited inside the theaters, but can be enjoyed in any of the public spaces within the building.

Northrop understands that factors outside our guests' control might impact their ability to arrive before the scheduled performance time. In the interest of all patrons and per the request of performers, latecomers will be seated in the rear of the theater or in one of the balconies, at the discretion of management and based on availability. If the performance has an intermission, guests may relocate to their assigned seats during that time. Northrop will follow the same practice with guests who need to leave the theater during a performance.

This policy may vary by event.

If you misplaced an item while at Northrop, please visit the administrative office in Suite 90 on the west side of the Ground Floor level, call 612-301-1960, or email northrop@umn.edu for inquiries.

Professional photography or recording equipment is not allowed inside the Carlson Family Stage without permission. The allowance of cell phones varies with individual events. Contact northrop@umn.edu for advance permission and more information on taking professional photos during events, or to request media access to an event.

Northrop adheres to the University of Minnesota policy for filming and photography on campus. Contact University Relations for information for students completing coursework or to request permission for filming and/or photography for commercial purposes.

Weapons, including firearms, are not allowed in Northrop, per University policy. Additionally, helium balloons and confetti are not permitted inside the building. Outside alcohol is prohibited, and per University policy, the unlawful or unauthorized use, possession, distribution, consumption, promotion, marketing, or sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on University property or as part of any University activity. Other items may be prohibited at the discretion of management.

The University of Minnesota is committed to promoting and protecting the health and well-being of all campus community members and is a smoke and tobacco-free campus. For the University’s complete policy, please visit the UWide Policy Library
